Mars Academy USA MAU Crew 002 is a five member crew composed of a multi-disciplinary team of medical professionals, scientists, engineers and artists working and living together in a fully immersive, Mars analog simulation mission. The team consists of

Crew Commander: Dr Akar Thaker MD

Crew Medical Officer: Susan Ip-Jewell MD, DCEG

Crew Engineer: Saran Subba

Crew Artronaut: Janet Biggs BFA

Crew Governance Officer: Carim Ism

ABOUT MARS MEDICS MISSION: MAU MARS MEDICS is a series of Analog Astronaut Simulation Training missions focusing on space medicine, biomedical and biotechnology innovations. Mission crews enter fully “in-person” immersive simulations living and working together in a transdisciplinary, multicultural analog Mars environment in MAU’s mobile, modular Mars Basecamps. The missions are specifically focused on innovations for explorations in space medicine, astro-wellness, space food production and nutrition. The crews will test, develop and innovate ways to support future human explorations and settlement on Mars and Moon. The crews will test design and integrate exponential technologies, such as, VRAR, 3D printing, genetic tools telemedicine / telehealth technologies, robotics, autonomous and drones during the missions. www.marsacademyusa.com

ABOUT NEAMAE PROJECT: MAU deploys fully immersive ‘real-time” analog astronaut missions to austere “Isolated and Confined Environments” (known as I.C.E.) to various extreme Mars analog regions on Earth, such as, Nepal (Himalayas), Everest Basecamp, Africa (Kilimanjaro), Americas (North & South), Arctic, Antarctica. This project is collectively called the "NEAMAE PROJECT". These missions are comprised of highly trained, experienced medical professionals and scientific researcher and explorers who possess vast skills, deep knowledge and expertise in areas of aerospace and space medicine, extreme environment medicine, wilderness and survival training certifications, aviation, including, mountaineering and scuba diving skills. These expeditions are very challenging physically, psychologically and physiologically. Candidates selected are highly motivated, driven and passionate about human exploration, on Earth and in Space, with a deep desire to become "Scientist Astronauts" and/or pioneering innovators, explorers and adventurers. We are building a community of “extra-ordinary heroes” who will support and enable humanity to become a ‘multi-planetary species” to thrive in space and to make new discoveries to improve life on Earth. www.facebook.com/ProjectNEAMAE

MISSION OBJECTIVES:

1. Train highly skilled professionals in the fields of space medicine, aerospace medicine, explorers, analogue astronauts, visioneers, innovators, developers, artists, academics, scientists, and researchers in analogue astronautics and exponential technologies to support future long-duration space missions, planetary surface explorations and spin-off benefits to improve life on Earth.

2. Testing and development of new technologies to create new understanding, Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs), and construct new paradigms for improving state-of-the art in multiple industries including Space Medicine, Health and Wellness. Additionally to fulfill NASA’s Human Readiness Level, HRL, for R&D in innovative exponential technologies to support future human missions to deep space and planetary surface explorations.

3. Exploring and developing a new “edutainment” interactive, fully immersive, “real-time” paradigm of learning for the 21st Century using “experiential, simulation-based learning with exponential technologies”

4. Training and selection of analogue astronaut crews for austere extreme environments considered to be analogue of Mars and Moon to prepare individuals to join or be part of the new expanding commercial astronautic industry.

5. To offer a platform and opportunities for MAU alumni communities in continue further training to higher fidelity missions, ie, Kilimanjaro, Mexico, Everest Basecamp, Arctic and Antarctica. (NEAMAE Project) www.facebook.com/ProjectNEAMAE
